EDUCATION

Education is a prime benefit of being a member of the Society and comes in a number of forms. Once a member, access to the Special Interest Groups, Regional Groups, Computer Workshops, Mentor scheme, visits to places of interest and to our very extensive Library will all be made available to you.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Society has a very vibrant Education Committee and Schools Sub-Committee which meet on a regular basis in order to maintain a high level of interest in family history. Both Committees are always on the look out for new volunteers with exciting ideas.

GENEALOGICAL GUIDES

The Society has a number of reasonably priced publications which have been produced by the Education Committee to help genealogists find the resources available to them. These may be ordered by completing the order form which appears in the publication section of our web-site.

FAMILY HISTORY PROJECTS FOR CHILDREN

The Society's policy includes the encouragement of family history research amongst the young. Family History Projects have been introduced into Jewish Schools, Chedarim and Youth Organisations. The new Bnei Mitzvah Programme of the United Synagogue Agency for Jewish Education has a genealogical project for boys taking their Bar Mitzvah. This is designed, supplied and run under the auspices of the Education Committee of the JGSGB.

The Society maintains the view that if the subject of family history is introduced into as many Youth Organisations as possible, it would be both secured, well documented and an invaluable heritage for future Jewish generations.
