The Library contains more than a thousand books and other items relating to genealogy. The emphasis is on resources which can help those tracing Jewish ancestors.
It is unrivalled by any other library in Europe.
As well as books, there is an extensive collection of
Genealogical Magazines from Societies all over the world collected over
the last fifteen years, which includes
Avotaynu
(the world's largest circulation magazine devoted to Jewish genealogy). How do I find out what is in the Library?

Some books are specific to particular towns/countries, others are genealogical textbooks or family histories prepared by individuals.
Recent
acquisitions include books issued by the Dutch Genealogical Society giving
Births Marriages and Deaths records for Amsterdam & Rotterdam from
the 17th century for both Sephardim and Ashkenazim and a selection published
by French Genealogical Societies. The library is constantly being added
to by purchase and by gifts from members. We are also appealing to our
members who have duplicates of Genealogical books, or ones they no longer
require, to donate them to the Library.
The best way is to visit the library. It is located in Central London, near Marble Arch, and
is for the use of members only, or those who pay £5 which is refundable
against membership. Members do not need to advise in advance if
they plan to come to the Library on one of the regular opening days. The Library
is open approximately twice per month. The dates of opening are
shown on the current Programme of Activities.
