Maiden Lane Cemetery is in Bancroft Road in the heart of the old East End. Bancroft Road also contains the Tower Hamlets Family History Library , and running off it is Alderney Rd with its own old Cemetery.
Unfortunately , Maiden Lane Cemetery has been allowed to deteriorate to its present derelict state , the only concession being a good set of iron railings put up by Sir Monty Finneston about 20 years ago- but then he was Chairman of British Steel.
The Cemetery , 1600 square yards, dates from 1810 when it was purchased for the Maiden Lane Synagogue at the time of its schism with the Western.
By the end of the century it was virtually full and then fell into a state of neglect. When Maiden Lane Synagogue re-united with the Western Synagogue in 1907 , the later specifically excluded the upkeep of the Cemetery from the deal. By the early 1920s such was the sorry state of the ground that letters appeared in the Jewish Chronicle. Said one: "…it seems to belong to nobody, and it is nobody’s business to look after it". Some money was raised , but has long since been used.
A hundred years ago it was "crowded with upright stones , the grass neglected and having no paths between the graves." Now, the only difference is that there are but two upright stones, and a supermarket trolley.
The Burial Register (1875-1903) was destroyed by a bomb in 1941. If there is a copy , I have so far been unable to find it. I am still searching.
I have put together the following from the sources indicated.

The Librarian at Bancroft Rd (Tower Hamlets) Family History Library
has given me permission to reproduce the following list of inscriptions
-
made by one of his predecessors , Henry Wootton in 1987.
Where there was a Jewish Inscription , the Librarian , who could not
translate it , has noted the fact. The English details are as they appear
on the stones.
