Nick Sayers’ history of the Jews in Lithuania in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries is most welcome. It provides a readable and accessible account of the rich if often troubled everyday life of ordinary Litvak Jews, including the importance of emigration and the terrible destruction inflicted by the ‘Holocaust through bullets’ during the Second World War. About Nick Sayers
Nick Sayers read history at Magdalen College, Oxford 1978-1981. He spent his working life as a corporate transactional lawyer and was a partner at several leading London law firms. He has a Masters in Historical Research from Birkbeck and is an Honorary Fellow of the Parkes Institute, University of Southampton.
Nick is a member of the advisory board of the Jewish Historical Society of England.
After the talk, there will be an opportunity for Q&A on the talk.
We will then take a 15 minute tea break, followed by the ever-popular Eastern European workshop, where you may ask questions about your research, share successes and brick walls, and provide answers to others in your areas of expertise.
