Visiting the Library

Visiting the Library:  The library is located in Knightsbridge, London. It is for the use of JGSGB members only, or those who pay £5 which is refundable against membership. The library is normally open on the first Tuesday and third Thursday each month and a team of volunteers from the Society is always on hand during opening hours to offer guidance in using the library.

Booking to reserve a place at a library session is essential. It enables us to inform the security staff, who will allow access and for us to ensure that current members are not charged £5. The dates of opening are shown on the current Programme of Activities. Reservations may be made via e-mail at library@jgsgb.org.uk and we will let you know the library's exact location.

Physical Accessibility for Visitors to the JGSGB Library

JGSGB’s library - The JGSGB Library is located on the 3^rd floor. You can reach the 3rd floor either using the stairs or by using the lift.

About the building - The building has one small step (approx. 1 inch) up to the front door, and there is a ramp available for wheelchair users who may need to use it. The ramp lives just inside the front door and takes only a few seconds to put out – Building security can help with that whenever necessary.

Accessible Toilet and Lift - There is an accessible WC in the basement, which can be reached using the lift. The lift is tight, but to date there has never been any problem with a wheelchair user being able to fit inside. The lift has been used successfully by a person who uses a large, motorised wheelchair.

Inaccessible Areas of the building - The entire building is accessible, apart from the ground floor kitchen and three adjoining offices, which are not areas that are used by JGSGB.

In case of emergencies, JGSGB users will follow instructions from the building’s Security Team.
