JGSGB is committed to protecting the personal information of members and of those who contact or join us for conferences and other events.
From 25th May 2018, data protection rules changed and under the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), those who share personal data with the Society will be given more rights and protection as to how their personal data is used. The Society will not be able to assume consent to use data unless a person has opted out: instead the person will need to opt in, otherwise the Society will not be able to retain and use any personal data.
We collect your information when you join the Society; when you book to attend a conference or event; and when you attend the Library or one of the groups.
We only collect the information that is necessary to carry out the objectives of the Society and to keep you informed. The information we ask you to provide includes name, postal address, telephone number and email address. You may choose not to give us certain information, but this can limit the service we will be able to give you e.g. you might not get to hear about an event you would have loved to have attended.
We do not hold bank or credit card details.
The information we hold about you will be used to send you information about our activities and for mailing Shemot and e-mailing a link to the quarterly Newsletter.
Officers can request information from the Membership Secretary for special communications, e.g. bereavement cards or letters.
JGSGB will never share your personal information with any third parties unless it is to enable us to provide you with information or mailing.
The address information that we hold enables Shemot to be mailed to you and is only used by the printer for that purpose and no other.
Similarly we use Robot and MailChimp for distributing notices to members and non-members; as data processors they are required to be GDPR compliant.
JGSGB is committed to protecting the personal information you entrust to us. We adopt appropriate technologies and policies, so the information we have about you is protected from unauthorised access and improper use.
You should find it easy to access and amend the personal information that we hold about you, or request that we stop contacting you. It is your data and we want to make sure you feel in control of it.
If you have an online account with us, you can amend your personal details and email contact preferences at any time. When you sign in on the website you will be taken automatically to your account and can amend and update the data.
Or, if you prefer, you can contact us by emailing, or writing using our contact details below.
