The International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) is an independent non-profit umbrella organization coordinating the activities and annual conference of more than 90 national and local Jewish Genealogical Societies (JGS) around the world.

It is an organization of organizations formed in 1988 to provide a common voice for issues of significance to its members, to advance our genealogical avocation, and to coordinate items such as the annual International Conference on Jewish Genealogy.

Most local and national Jewish Genealogical Societies (JGSs) and a number of Jewish genealogical Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and historical societies are members.

Jewish Historical Society of England

The oldest historical and learned society of its kind in Europe, founded in 1893. The Society, based in London, has active branches in a number of centres and meets regularly with lectures on a wide range of subjects relating to Anglo-Jewish history, and publishes its biennial transactions known as Jewish Historical Studies.  The JHSE and JGSGB are working together to develop mutually beneficial links, including the cross-promotion of talks and events and use of resources.

Jewish Museum London

The Jewish Museum London’s exhibitions, education programmes and activities encourage a sense of discovery and creativity and tell the story of Jewish history, culture and religion in an innovative and compelling way and engage with people of all backgrounds and faiths to explore Jewish heritage and identity as part of the wider story of Britain.  JGSGB has worked with the Jewish Museum London for twenty or more years on the delivery of a regular programme of Family History Workshops.  JGSGB will be working with the Museum to integrate Family History research into some of the Museum’s programme of activities. JGSGB has held its Annual London Conference when in-person at the Museum since 2014.

The Jewish Museum London is operating as a museum without walls, as they work towards a new permanent home.

In the meantime you can find them in a range of places, both in person and online.
