JGSGB Specialist Talk: "Yizkor bikher: an introduction to Jewish memorial books" by Martina Ravagnan from the Wiener Holocaust Library

Sunday 16th February 2025, 14:00-16:00
Online
Wiener Library Books

Our next Sunday meeting in the JGSGB Meeting Programme is a general meeting by Zoom on the topic of Yizkor books.

What are Yizkor books and what are their main characteristics? How can they be used as a resource both for family research and Holocaust history? This talk will aim to give an answer to these questions. It will present an overview of the history of this genre from the interwar years to the current day, when many of these volumes are available online in digital format. The Wiener Holocaust Library has recently received a huge donation of Yizkor books previously belonging to the Library of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Great Britain. All the JGSGB members are welcome to come and browse the volumes in the Russell Square reading room.
