- Description: The talk will be about Tony’s second cousin twice removed 'Dorothy Levitt'.
Born Elizabeth Levi in 1882 into a medium size close Jewish family living in Dalston. She bucked the norm by working in the West End for a motor car company and within months took to driving their enormous Hill climb vehicles leading to world famous wins against the male dominated racing fraternity, eventually breaking the world speed record, all this before the age of 28.
She died exactly 102 years ago in 1922 and is buried in Brighton.
After the talk, there will be an opportunity for Q&A and discussion on the talk.

Tony is married to Jean and has two children and two grandchildren. They have lived in Edgware for 50 years. They have both retired and have been members of JGSGB for nearly twenty years. When Tony joined JGSGB he probably had about 50 people on my tree, and now has close to 2000 with the Anglo/Jewish side going back to 1760. Jean was a teacher at Rosh Pinah school for 30 years and Tony ran his own promotions company. He was chair of his synagogue and on council for 15 years and is still involved. Being retired gave him the time to help with the genealogy on a new book about this subject, Dorothy Levitt.
